Whoa...

People say there is always a first for everything, and today I was able to say this was my first. I was at Target, and I was coming out. I see three men holding down this man screaming, "Get off me! Get off me!"

I learned this man they were holding had stolen something. He was kicking and screaming. He was trying so hard to get away. This is crazy because I actually felt sorry for him. I felt sorry because what he probably stole is most likely not worth what his consequences will be. I was sad because I realize what he did will stick with him for the rest of his life. He will never be able to get away from this night. The night he stole will be etched into his past, never able to be erased. Every time he tries to get a job or better himself, people will know he committed a crime. Once people know that nobody will give him a chance. On the job application he must check the box "Have you ever committed a crime?" Then, he must explain what he did. People will assume "Oh! He stole! He's a bad person!" That makes me sad. I know I make assumptions like that, but I wish I didn't. I wish people would be more accepting of others.

Sorry that was off on a tanget. I know he made that decision, and it is his fault because he chose that path. But still. Poor man. I wish he could have realized that stealing isn't worth it. Especially stealing something from Target!!!

So February 17,2006 was the first time I saw someone get apprehended for stealing. Oh and Travis thought it'd be sooo cute to take a picture of the men holding this guy down.
